Understanding Minimum Blob Base Fees

There is widespread misunderstanding [1234] about the transaction fees paid by blobs and blob carrying transactions; many KOLs believed that blob carrying transactions only paid blobspace fees and that any minimum floor would be a near-infinite increase in cost of posting blobs. This has led to community pushback to any proposals that aim to set a price floor for blobspace. We aim to illuminate current market structure and the potential impact of EIP-7762, which sets are reserve price of approximately $0.01 for blobs in order to prevent priority gas auctions that may arise during surges of demand.
