Problem Description
There is observed heterogeneity between fork rates at different relays, i.e., a larger share of blocks that pass through the Flashbots relay are reorged or reorg prior blocks. The higher than average rates at Flashbots relay have been raised as concerns by members of the research community; we want to examine and explain this delta.
The share of blocks propagated by each relay that reorg other blocks. Flashbots relay is a clear outlier, prompting the question of why blocks delivered by Flashbots are more likely to induce reorgs than other relays. This dynamic is analyzed in the second half of this article. Image retrieved October 13, 2024 from reorg.pics.
